| Cub
Scouting means "doing." Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have
the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of
Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal
fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack
meetings. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the
monthly pack meetings. Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub
Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the
Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship
and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging. The Boys Scouts of America is celebrating its 100th birthday in America. Scouting programs have instilled the values of the Cub Scout Promise and Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting helps youth develop skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership and citizenship skills and most importantly, practice reverence and duty to God. The Cub Scouts of SJN’s Pack 12 will be hosting an Open House in the Parish Hall, Thursday, August 26th from 7-8:30pm. If you know a boy in 1st through 5th grade in our Parish Family, bring him and come visit the Scouting Family at SJN. For details, e-mail info@cubpack12.net or contact John Silvestri at 844-6720.
