Registration:
Registration will be handled through your Pack Co-ordinator. This year’s fee for Day Camp is $90. You, or your designated Day Camp Coordinator, will need to distribute and collect all registration forms and checks. Staff Applications, Camper Applications and $20 camper down payments will be accepted at the next two roundtable meetings: February 14 and March 13, 2008. The deadline for the applications is the March roundtable meeting. One check should be written from your Pack. The Balance of $70 per camper should be received prior to May 2nd. No registrations will be accepted at the council scout office. Registration fills up quickly and there are no guarantees for space availability. After May 9th registration is $115.

Adult Leadership:
To have the type quality camp that we all expect, we must have broad support in adult
leadership. Den size is as important at our Day Camp as it is in your Pack. Our goal is 10
campers in each den. In order to do this, cover all other areas of camp and to stay within BSA
Two Deep Leadership guidelines, we’ll need to have two den leaders for each 8 boys. We’re
asking each pack do their part by providing at least one leader for every four boys that are
registered. Ideally, we would like volunteers to work the full five days. Recognizing that this may not be possible for everyone, we are asking that at least one leader be
willing to participate for the full week. Maintaining continuity is important for
the boys. For leaders working the full week, we will feed you and your family dinner Friday night after we break camp. We will have childcare (Pixie Camp) available for volunteers’ children who are not eligible to be campers. We have already had volunteers from last year from most packs who have expressed an interest in volunteering for the full week.

Camp Information:
Day Camp will run from 9 am to 4:30 pm. To avoid any confusion we will explain a few areas
of our program up front. Den Assignments will be made the same way as last year. All scouts
will be grouped first by rank and then broken into dens in groups of 10 by luck of the draw.
Exceptions are made for scouts who require special handling. There was much concern over this
method last year, but we had much feedback in favor and some against. We are maintainingy this method for this year, but want everyone to know at the time of registration. The scouts had much good to say and really enjoyed the week, in spite of last year’s weather.
We are implementing a special Webelo track this year. The Webelo scouts at day camp, who
participate for the full week will earn their Showman and Scientist activity badges and start their Athlete, which they can finish at Resident Camp. By virtue of participating at camp they will also touch on their Naturalist, Aquanaut, Artist, Readyman, Outdoorsman, and Sportsman. We are working on a program for the Webelos to earn their archery or BB pin. One additional
activity is the Wednesday night Webelo Sleepover. The Webelo Scouts are invited to camp
overnight Wednesday to work on more of their activities. A night hike is just one of the
activities planned. Of course we will be accepting volunteers to help run and facilitate this
program.

We are also working on special activities for our Wolf and Bear Scouts. We will have the ability
to have progress reports throughout the week and lots of information before and during camp
available on the Etowah Day Camp website. One area of concern last year was communication and information flow. We will have the schedules posted on the website along with parent information and camper preparation letters prior to camp. In the next week we will have all camp forms posted on the Etowah Day Camp page. Website information will not replace personal communication, rather it is an enhancement.

The main communication flow will be through the Day Camp Coordinators for the pack. Please
forward your day camp coordinators name, number and email address as soon as possible. We
are starting early this year and do not want to miss anyone.
